#2 - Jacob Hopper
Formerly worn by Curtly Hampton
The GIANTS' number 7 draft pick has taken the highest free number that became available when foundation GIANT Curtly Hampton moved to Adelaide after 51 games in the number 2. Hopper joined the club from the PM Capital GIANTS Academy from Leeton in southern NSW.
#11 - Jack Steele
Formerly worn by Chad Cornes, Taylor Adams, Jed Lamb
After making his AFL debut in the number 38 jumper during the 2015 season, young gun Jack Steele has elected to move down the order to a higher number for his second season in the AFL. Steele wore the number 10 all through his junior playing days and took the opportunity to establish his AFL career in a jumper close to that.
#14 - Jarrod Pickett
Formerly worn by Tommy Bugg
Yet to make his AFL debut, Pickett will wear the number 14 for his second season at the club after taking number 26 when he first arrived with pick 4 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft. The jumper became available after Tommy Bugg moved to Melbourne following 65 games as the original wearer of the number.
#15 - Matt Kennedy
Formerly worn by Tim Golds
Collingullie's Matt Kennedy will take over the number 15 jumper from Tim Golds after being selected at pick 13 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft straight out of the PM Capital GIANTS Academy. Kennedy wore the number 15 all throughout his junior career and was ecstatic when it was available for him as he begins his AFL journey.
#17 - Steve Johnson
Formerly worn by Adam Treloar
After 253 games and 452 goals in the number 20 at Geelong, Steve Johnson takes over the number 17 vacated when Adam Treloar departed the club. Johnson said he was never going to ask for Adam Tomlinson's number 20 and was more than happy to begin his new career at his new club in a new number.
#26 - Dawson Simpson
Formerly worn by Jonathan Giles, Jarrod Pickett
After joining the GIANTS as a delisted free agent from Geelong, Simpson takes up a new number after wearing 16 in his six years at the Cats. The 26 jumper became available after Pickett elected to move to number 14 for the 2016 season.
#27 - Harry Himmelberg
Formerly worn by Andrew Phillips
After being selected by the GIANTS with pick 16 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, Wagga Wagga's Harry Himmelberg will take on the number 27 which was vacated after Andrew Phillips joined Carlton. Himmelberg was selected from the PM Capital GIANTS Academy and begins a row of jumper numbers from 26 through to 31 all hailing from the Riverina.
#28 - Jake Barrett
Formerly worn by Liam Sumner
After wearing 43 in his first two seasons at the club and making his debut in that number in the final game of the season, Barrett moves down to the number 28 jumper after being persuaded by fellow Riverina boy Zac Williams. The number 28 was originally worn by Liam Sumner in his 12 games for the club.
#30 - Matthew Flynn
Formerly worn by Taylor Adams, Lachie Plowman
New draftee Matthew Flynn takes over the number 30 from Lachie Plowman after arriving at the club from the PM Capital GIANTS Academy with pick 41 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft. The fourth draftee to arrive in 2015, Flynn takes over the number vacated by Plowman after 20 games over three seasons.
#31 - Jeremy Finlayson
Formerly worn by Jacob Townsend
After wearing 47 in his first year at the club, raw tall forward Jeremy Finlayson takes over the number 31 worn by inaugural GIANT Jacob Townsend. Townsend moved to the Tigers after 28 games in the number meaning Finlayson could move down the number order for his second season in the AFL.
#38 - Daniel Lloyd
Formerly worn by James McDonald, Stephen Gilham, Jack Steele
From park football to the AFL, rookie Daniel Lloyd will wear the 38 jumper as he looks to forge an AFL career. Jack Steele moved from the 38 to number 11 for 2016, freeing up the number 38 for the former carpenter.
#50 - Sam Reid
Formerly worn by Dean Brogan
Journeyman Sam Reid originally wore the number 23 in his 14 games for the club from 2013-2014 before retiring from the AFL. After Heath Shaw took over the number 23 for the past two seasons, Reid opted for the number 50 he'd been wearing in the NEAFL as he ressurects his AFL career as a rookie.
