THE CALDER Cannons football factory has reloaded and looks set to again produce more top end talent in this year's NAB AFL Draft.

The Cannons, a powerhouse club in Victoria's TAC Cup competition, believe they have seven probable draft prospects.

Essendon has already committed to former Cannons player Joe Daniher with the No.10 pick in this year's draft, after the club secured him via the father-son bidding process.

Running midfielder Jonathon O'Rourke and composed defender Lachie Plowman are considered certain selections, likely to be taken in the first round.

Defender Matthew Dick, forwards Rory Atkins and Adam Saad and tall forward Liam McBean are other Cannons products in the draft mix, while dynamic small forward Andrew Gallucci and developing big man Sean Gregory head the club's list of rookie chances.

Calder had its all-time best return with seven players drafted in the 2010 AFL Draft, including four first round selections.

Those players were Dion Prestia (No.9 to Gold Coast), Matthew Watson (No.18 to Carlton), Mitch Wallis (No.22 father-son to the Western Bulldogs) and Cameron Guthrie (No.23 to Geelong).

Tom Liberatore (No.41 father-son to the Bulldogs), Luke Mitchell (No.42 to Carlton) and Jordan Schroder (No.54 to Geelong) were the others to feature in the 2010 Draft.

The Cannons appear set to mirror that sort of return again this year.

Newly appointed Under 18 Vic Metro coach - and former Calder coach - Martin Allison told AFL.com.au having that number drafted again would be a terrific result for the club.

Unlike previous years, the Cannons were bundled out in the first round of the TAC Cup finals series. Nonetheless, the Cannons look poised to again feature prominently when the 2012 AFL Draft, staged on the Gold Coast on November 22, rolls around.

Allison said there was a healthy competition between the TAC Cup clubs to see who had the most players drafted each year.

"We always, as a club, look at what the other clubs do and who's got the most draftees," he said.

"That’s just something we have in house and you're always looking to see how you rate against the other clubs."

Here is Allison's run down of the Cannons' major draft hopes this year.

Jonathon O'Rourke

Height: 186cm
Weight: 73kg
Position: Medium Midfielder

"He has exquisite kicking skills, which makes him stand out. Whilst he's more than capable inside the contest, I think his strength is on the outside," Allison says.

"He glides across the oval and he's a fantastic runner. So I think he's going to be a pretty handy acquisition."

Lachie Plowman

Height: 192cm
Weight: 84kg
Position: Tall Defender

"He's an exceptional competitor. As a defender, he knows when to leave his player and impact the contest. He can get on the end of a handball, cut inside and run and carry.

"However, I think his true worth might be as a midfielder, he's got a very good body for a midfielder."

Joe Daniher (Essendon)

Height: 201cm
Weight: 89kg
Position: Tall Forward/Ruckman

"He's a terrific contested mark and he's going to be a very handy footballer in the forward line. Joe has the rare talent of being able to take the ball at its highest point, which allows him to take so many contested marks.

"He does some things that a 201cm player really shouldn't be able to do."

Matthew Dick

Height: 188cm
Weight: 86kg
Position: Medium Defender

"I'm a huge fan of Matt. He's got great speed, kicks it well and he gives you that run and carry. He's a good decision maker and he can play on a taller player and also a smaller player, but I think he can also have an impact on the wing."

Rory Atkins
Height: 186cm
Weight: 81kg
Position: Medium Forward

"He knows where the goals are and he had some really good games in the midfield when we pushed him in there.

"He can get around opponents pretty quickly. He's got some more improvement to go, but there's an enormous amount of upside. I know there's a fair bit of interest out there for Rory."

Adam Saad

Height: 178cm
Weight: 73kg
Position: Small Forward

"He's got great speed and a pretty good kick on him. He gives you great run and carry and he's always lifting his vision to look further down the field. His speed and his kicking are going to be attractive to people, and he's got very good goal sense."

Liam McBean

Height: 203cm
Weight: 87kg
Position: Tall Forward

"Like Joe (Daniher) he runs around like a player who is 186cm, which is completely ridiculous.

"When he stops growing he's going to have to put some bulk on and clubs will have to invest some time in to him. But I'm pretty certain clubs will get a versatile and agile player who can play in a lot of positions."
