Three new GIANTS players got their first taste of AFL Football in Round 1 of the NAB Cup but tall defender Lachie Plowman also got his first taste of AFL victory, singing the club song after his debut match.

An exciting looking young GIANTS outfit defeated the reigning Premiers, the Sydney Swans, by 24 points in the third game of the NAB Cup triple header in Blacktown.

Plowman said that while he enjoyed his first attempt at singing the club song, he still had plenty of work to do.

"I think the song needs a bit of work but it was good to get a game under the belt. I knew about three or four (of the words) but it's something to work on," Plowman said.

"I just smiled my way through it and Sheeds came over to see if I was singing it but there was nothing coming out."

The 192cm recruit was excited to get the call up for the first round of the NAB Cup and said that he had mixed emotions in the lead up to the game.

"I was pretty excited but nervous at the same time. As a first game you don't really know what to expect but it was good to get out there and get a feel for it.

"It was a bit of congested football… but I got through it alright so hopefully I can build on that."

While Plowman said that he would love to play in the GIANTS Premiership Season opener against the Sydney Swans, he isn't getting ahead of himself.

"It would be nice but you never know what to expect. I'm hoping to play some good footy through the rest of the NAB Cup and hopefully I'll be there but I'm just excited to be here at the moment," he said.
