The GIANTS have secured former Collingwood swingman Lachie Keeffe in the AFL Delisted Free Agency period.
The 27-year-old versatile tall has played 40 games over seven seasons in the competition.
Coming from a soccer background, Keeffe was first spotted at a Queensland talent search and joined the Magpies’ rookie list for the 2009 season.
Standing at 204cm and 101kg, Keeffe will add to the GIANTS’ tall timber for the 2018 season.
“We’re excited to have Lachie join us for the upcoming season,” said GIANTS General Manager Football Wayne Campbell.
"Lachie can play as a tall defender or forward, but given his height and the retirements of Shane Mumford and Tom Downie, we see that he can provide us some coverage in the ruck too.
“He was a popular member of the Collingwood Football Club and we have no doubt he will fit in to our group here.
“Lachie has developed a lot as a footballer in his time in the AFL and we look forward to that continuing at the GIANTS in 2018.”
Keeffe made his debut in 2011 and has played as a ruckman, forward and defender across his career.
His most consistent season came in 2014 when he played 18 AFL games. Keeffe was re-rookied by Collingwood ahead of the 2017 season where he played 19 games in the VFL.
His sister, Jessie Keeffe, was recently drafted to the Brisbane Lions for the upcoming 2018 NAB AFL Women’s season.
The AFL Delisted Free Agency period runs until next week ahead of the 2017 NAB AFL Draft in Sydney on November 24.
