Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.
Name: Pat McKenna
Number: 42
2015 Games: 10 NEAFL
NEAFL Fantasy Average: 69
Awards: Nil
Background: Selected with pick 23 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, Pat McKenna is yet to make his AFL debut.
Best Game: NEAFL Round 11 v Ainslie - 17 touches, 3 goals, 8 marks and 6 tackles.
Summary: McKenna had a somewhat injury interrupted season with achilles and hip issues, but that’s not surprising given the jump in standard from playing country football in 2014. The classy wing/ half-forward was unselfish around goals and possesses strong leadership qualities which will hold him in good stead moving forward.
Pat On The Back: While his teammates are on break, McKenna has been at the club diligently completing his rehab work to make sure his hip has recovered in time for pre-season training.
What They Said: “McKenna’s leading patterns were quite advanced and his work-rate was fantastic so we liked what we saw from him,” NEAFL Coach Brett Hand
Look Ahead: The 19-year-old is still recovering from hip surgery but is expected to take part in a full pre-season which will help add some size to his frame. McKenna will look to string together more games next season and will continue to learn from the more experienced players at the club.
