Summary: Although he didn’t get the chance to strut his stuff at senior level, it was a very successful season for midfielder Paul Ahern who got his first taste of professional football. Ahern was solid for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL all season, playing predominantly through the middle but pushing forward at times to contribute to the scoring. Ahern was named in the best players on seven occasions and kicked eight goals. He also re-signed with the club for an additional year, making him a GIANT until at least the end of 2017.
Pat On The Back: Ahern relished being in a professional environment and did his best to learn from senior midfielders like Callan Ward and Ryan Griffen at training.
What They Said: “He’s been impressive since arriving at the club late last year and is working well with the midfield group. We see him having a bright future here at the GIANTS.” - GM Football Graeme Allan.
Look Ahead: After completing another full season expect Ahern to try and push his way into the senior side. A classy outside mid with exceptional skills, Ahern will be looking to make his official debut in 2016.
