The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS hold the first two selections in next month’s NAB AFL Draft after completing a trade deal with Melbourne today.

The GIANTS received pick 2, 20 and 72 in exchange for midfielder Dom Tyson and selections 9 and 53.

General Manager Football Graeme Allan said the deal meant the GIANTS now held selections 1 and 2 in the draft.

“Securing the second pick in the draft via this trade will allow us to continue to build our list by holding the first two selections in the draft for the third year in a row,” he said

Tyson played 13 games for the GIANTS in two seasons after being selected with pick three at the 2011 NAB AFL Draft. The 20 year-old played three games in 2013 after being sidelined for the first half of the year with a knee injury.

Allan thanked Tyson for his efforts over his two years at the GIANTS.

“Dom is a terrific young person and we thank him for his contribution on and off the field during his time at the GIANTS and wish him all the best for the future.”
