Head Coach Kevin Sheedy and GIANTS player Liam Sumner have helped the Concord GIANTS launch their 2013 season.

Formerly known as the Concord Cats, the junior AFL club changed its name to the GIANTS at the end of last year.

In 2012 the club had 100 children registered to play AFL. Since they rebranded as the GIANTS, registrations have almost doubled with over 180 kids set to play this year including many juniors new to AFL.

Sumner, who has been appointed as the club’s player ambassador, helped present players with their new GIANTS jumpers at the season launch. Sheedy was also presented with a special Concord GIANTS jumper to recognise his contribution to the club, which is the first in Sydney to change its name to the GIANTS.

“It is fantastic to see the growth of the game at a junior level in Western Sydney and I wish the Concord GIANTS every success for the 2013 season,” Sheedy said. “My hope is that kids enjoy their footy and practice their skills and enjoy the friendships and sense of community our great game offers.”
