Before you head to Spotless Stadium for this week’s big clash, check out some of the key stats which could influence the game between the GIANTS and the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs dominate key statistical categories across the competition so it’s no surprise they’re sitting at six wins and two losses and in fifth place on the AFL ladder.

They’re number on in disposals (444 per game), handballs (220 per game), clearances (+87) and even free kicks (+70).

They also have good forward pressure, third in the AFL for forward 50 tackles.

The GIANTS, however, remain the worst tackling side, averaging only 62 per game, while the Bulldogs are 12th despite Luke Dahlhaus and Tom Liberatore both being ranked inside the top 20.

The boys from Whitten Oval have the stingiest defence in the competition and are number one for both contested ball (+227) and hard ball gets (+128).

Stats suggest it could be a contested ball feast with the GIANTS second in the AFL in this category.

It’s the best defensive team against the best offensive team with the GIANTS holding the mantle as the highest scoring team in the AFL, averaging 114 points a game.

During the GIANTS’ two home games at Spotless Stadium this season, they’ve kicked 46 goals to their opponents’ 21 in big wins over the Hawks and the Suns.

The Bulldogs have never played at Spotless Stadium and have a poor history in Sydney, losing seven of their past nine games.

This is also the first time they’ve travelled out of Melbourne for the season, amazingly playing seven of their first eight games at their home ground at Etihad Stadium and last week making the big trek to the MCG to face Melbourne.

The Bulldogs dominated the GIANTS the last time the sides played; they had 20 more scoring shots and 22 more inside 50s, with Mitch Wallis best on ground with 36 disposals and seven tackles.

The GIANTS take on the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at Spotless Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
