The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have made just one change to their side for the round three Centenary of Canberra match against St Kilda at Manuka Oval on Saturday.

Sam Reid comes into the side for Rhys Palmer who’ll miss the match due to a calf injury.

Reid has been a standout performer for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL in the first two weeks of the season and is set to play his sixth game for the GIANTS.

The versatile 23-year-old played 10 games for the Western Bulldogs before joining the GIANTS at the end of 2011.

GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy says Reid’s early season performances can’t be overlooked.

“Sam (Reid) has been very consistent for UWS over the past few weeks and his impressive form has earned him this spot,” said Sheedy.

“It’s unfortunate that Rhys Palmer has gone out of the side with an injury after a good performance last week against Port Adelaide.

“Our depth is very good at the moment and there is plenty of competition for spots. Sam Darley and Anthony Miles have also been impressive and they’re unlucky to miss out,” he said.

Saturday’s match against St Kilda will be the first of three GIANTS home games in Canberra this season.

“It’s going to be a tough, close contest against the Saints who are desperate for a win, as we are too,” said Sheedy.

“We love being part of the community in Canberra, and I’m sure our ACT fans will turn out in force.

“Especially with it being the Centenary of Canberra match and the first AFL match played for premiership points under the new lights at Manuka Oval,” he said.
