The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have passed the 15,000 member milestone for the first time in the club’s short history.
Following last year’s total of 13,480 members, 2016 is the fourth consecutive year the GIANTS have achieved a membership record, with 12% growth already this year.
The GIANTS' 2016 membership total currently sits at 15,182. The GIANTS - currently sitting in fourth position on the AFL ladder with six Premiership season games remaining - have already equalled their best ever season with 11 wins.
With sell-out crowds in both Sydney and Canberra in 2016, GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said this year’s membership record is another sign of the club’s growth both on and off the field.
“This is an exciting milestone for our young club as we continue to make significant strides in the AFL competition,” Matthews said.
“I want to thank our loyal and committed members who’ve gotten behind the club in the early years and shown their support.
“Under the guidance of coach Leon Cameron, the team is playing an exciting brand of football that fans want to watch and this is being reflected by growth in memberships, ticket sales and TV audience numbers.”
With a week to go until the cut off for 2016 memberships, Mr Matthews has encouraged all GIANTS supporters to commit to the club as members.
“We still have three exciting home games to come with next week’s game against Richmond in Canberra on track to be another sell-out,” Matthews said.
“We’ve had wonderful support at Spotless Stadium this season and with back to back home games against West Coast and Fremantle still to come, I encourage everyone to sign up and join this exciting journey.”
