During this week’s round the GIANTS are proud to celebrate the club’s successful bid to field a team in the new National Women’s League, to begin in 2017.
Saturday’s match will feature a host of celebrations after the GIANTS were one of eight clubs awarded a licence in the new League.
In July the GIANTS announced former Swans player Tim Schmidt as head coach and West Australian pair Renee Forth and Emma Swanson as the club’s marquee signings.
On Saturday the GIANTS will take on the West Coast Eagles in the club’s second-last home game of the season at Spotless Stadium at 4.35pm.
Prior to the game there will be a lap of honour with more than 400 local female juniors from clubs across Western Sydney.
There’ll also be a message from the GIANTS’ marquee signings Renee and Emma outside Gate D as you enter the ground as well as a quarter time interview on field with coach Tim Schmidt.
And make sure you get in quick and be part of history as a Foundation Member of the GIANTS’ National Women’s League team.
If you’re already a foundation member of the GIANTS men’s team from 2011, this is a unique opportunity to be part of the formation of both the men’s and women’s teams from the very beginning.
Even if you’re not a previous foundation member, this is your one shot to be part of this exciting new step for the AFL.
