GIANTS trio Stephen Coniglio, Heath Shaw and Toby Greene have been nominated for the AFL Player’s Association Most Valuable Player award.

Academy product Jacob Hopper has also been nominated for Best First Year player, while co-captain Callan Ward could be crowned the Most Courageous Player.

For Shaw and Greene their AFLPA MVP nominations follows their naming in the 2016 Virgin Australia All Australian side.

Coniglio has again been recognised for his impressive season as the GIANTS’ leading run-with player.

The 22-year-old was in the All Australian 40-man squad and is one of 50 players nominated for the AFLPA’s 22under22 side.

Coniglio, Shaw and Greene were nominated by their teammates, while a final winner will be decided when the wider AFL playing group votes for a winner.

Hopper’s exceptional debut season, which saw him nominated for the 2016 NAB Rising Star, has seen him chosen as the GIANTS’ nominee for Best First Year Player.

Hopper is in line to become the second GIANT to win the award for Best First Year Player after Jeremy Cameron took home the award in 2012.

Ward has been nominated for two AFLPA awards, firstly for Most Courageous Player, while he has been automatically nominated for the Best Captain Award alongside Phil Davis.

The winners will be announced at the AFL Players’ MVP Awards on Tuesday 13th September at Peninsula in Docklands.
