The GIANTS have re-signed another key player with defender Nick Haynes agreeing to a new deal that will see him remain at the club until the end of 2019.
The two-year contract extension sees the 24-year old join the likes of Callan Ward, Tom Scully, Shane Mumford and Lachie Whitfield who’ve recently re-committed to the GIANTS.
Haynes was one of the first players selected by the GIANTS when he joined the club via the 2011 NAB AFL draft.
With 56 games next to his name, Haynes has become a key member of the GIANTS backline alongside the likes of Heath Shaw and Phil Davis.
Fresh from a career high 25-possessions off half back in Round 18, Haynes said it was an easy decision to re-commit.
“I enjoy living in Sydney and I’ve loved my time here at the GIANTS so I had no hesitation in re-signing,” Haynes said.
“We’re a tight group, we’ve got a terrific group of coaches, outstanding facilities and it’s exciting to be involved in building a club.
“On the field we’ve taken some big steps forward this year and I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction to achieve the ultimate success in the coming years.”
GIANTS General Manager Football Wayne Campbell said he’s delighted to have the in-form backman re-signed long term.
“Nick’s been here from the start and has formed a close bond with many of his team mates through some tough times,” said Campbell.
“He’s grown into a really valuable part of our club and we’re thrilled to have him extend his contract.
“To have Nick re-sign shortly after Callan Ward, Shane Mumford, Lachie Whitfield and Tom Scully clearly demonstrates the commitment the playing group has to building something special at the GIANTS.”
