The GIANTS have today reached an agreement with the Carlton Football Club to exchange defender Caleb Marchbank, small forward Jarrod Pickett and the GIANTS’ future second round selection in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft for Carlton’s future first round pick in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft (on traded by Geelong) as well as the Blues’ picks 45 and 58 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft.

Marchbank played seven games for the GIANTS over two seasons after joining the club from Benalla in Victoria with pick six of the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

The 19-year-old was limited to just two games in 2016 due to foot and shoulder injuries.

Pickett, 20, joined the GIANTS as pick four in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft and after strong NEAFL form in 2015, was struck down by injury in 2016 and unable to make his AFL debut.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell said today’s trade was beneficial for all parties.

“With Caleb expressing a desire to move to a Melbourne club and Jarrod wanting a fresh start, we’re pleased to have worked with the Carlton Football club to complete a deal that works for everyone,” Campbell said.

“We wish Caleb and Jarrod well and thank them for their contribution to the club over the past two years."
