Before you head to Manuka Oval for this week’s huge blockbuster clash, check out some of the key stats which could influence the game between the GIANTS and Port Adelaide.

The Power hold a 4-1 lead head-to-head over the GIANTS, with the last meeting between these two sides a fiery affair at Adelaide Oval late last year.

Suspended Power forward Angus Monfries kicked three goals, as did returning midfielder Chad Wingard and youngster Brendon Ah Chee.

In-form ball winner Robbie Gray was a standout for the home side while for the GIANTS, forward Rhys Palmer kicked a career-best five goals and Ryan Griffen had 31 touches and eight tackles.

The two sides have met once at Manuka Oval in Canberra, with the Power prevailing by 35-points in round seven, 2014.

The GIANTS have significantly improved their winning record in the nation’s capital over the past two years, winning three of their last four games at their home ground.

In round two the GIANTS beat Geelong for the first time in their history. The GIANTS weathered the storm to record their first win of the season over the fast-finishing Cats by 13 points.

The win was set up by dominating at the stoppages in the second term and immense forward pressure in the third quarter.

It’ll be that same game style needed to turn off the Power on Sunday afternoon.

Port Adelaide are ranked first for contested possessions at 162.3 per game, while the GIANTS are ranked ninth with 144.3 per game. Robbie Gray is the number one contested possession player in the AFL so far with a total of 58 this season.

They’re also ranked number one for closing pressure and number one for forward-half pressure based on Champion Data’ rankings. They’re number two in the AFL for tackles, averaging 80 per game and offensively very strong - number two for inside-50s and number one for total stoppages.

In the five contests so far between the sides Jeremy Cameron has kicked 12 goals for the GIANTS and Jay Schulz 12 for the Power. Both will be missing for Sunday’s clash with Schulz undergoing back surgery earlier this week and Cameron serving the final week of his four-week suspension.
