Co-captain Phil Davis and fellow defender Tim Mohr will both be put through their paces in a bid to line up against Collingwood at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.
The luckless Davis injured his calf in the GIANTS’ round 14 win over Carlton and was forced to spend the second half of the match on the bench.
With a bye last week Davis could get through without missing a game after the minor strain.
Mohr, who returned from back-to-back knee reconstructions in round seven, has spent six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury he sustained in just his third game back.
In further good news for the GIANTS, Caleb Marchbank and Will Hoskin-Elliott will also be available for selection after recovering from their respective injuries.
Defender Marchbank originally suffered a grade two syndesmotic ankle injury in round two and after four weeks on the sidelines, re-injured the same ankle in his NEAFL return in May.
Marchbank could have played the week prior to the bye but opted to take a more cautious approach this time around and spend an extra fortnight to ensure he is fully fit for this weekend.
Forward Hoskin-Elliott has had an injury-interrupted season with the latest being three weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Small forward Devon Smith is also available for selection after playing a half in the GIANTS’ NEAFL clash a fortnight ago.
Matt Buntine is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury also sustained in the match against the Blues and is two weeks away from a return.
Young draftee Jacob Hopper is also progressing well after it was revealed he had minor stress fractures in his back.
