The GIANTS have reached an agreement with Hawthorn to trade forward Jonathon Patton for a future fourth-round pick (tied to Melbourne).
26-year-old Patton has played 89 games across his eight seasons in the competition after being drafted with the number one pick of the 2012 Draft.
Two serious knee injuries curtailed his career early before he kicked hauls of 38 goals and 45 goals in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Patton is recovering from a third ACL injury, with the forward last taking to the field in July, 2018.
“We wish Jon all the best,” GIANTS General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell said.
“Jon has been part of building the club to where we are today and we thank him for his contribution over the past eight years.
“We hope a fresh start at the Hawks helps Jon return to his best on the football field.”
The GIANTS currently hold selections 6, 40, 59, 60, 80, 94 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft as well as a 2020 future fourth-round pick (tied to Melbourne).
