The GIANTS have used their first pick at the 2017 NAB AFL Draft to select Aiden Bonar with pick 11.
Boner is a powerfully built, versatile tall who excels at stoppages and has a burst of speed away from congestion.
He is strong overhead and very competitive and after overcoming two ACL injuries, he returned to school and club football late in the year.
GIANTS National Recruiting Manager Adrian Caruso said: "Aiden is a powerful player who had a strong end to 2017 after returning from injury.
"He is explosive, skilled and has the appetite to tackle. He’s the reason we traded up to pick 11."
Boner was All Australian at Under-15s level in 2014 and has massive upside. He impressed in the All Star game at the MCG on Grand Final day to be among the best players.
At the Draft Combine his 2.90 seconds for 20m highlighted his speed.
