The GIANTS’ team to take on the Adelaide Crows at Thebarton Oval in the first game of the historic NAB AFL Women’s competition has been named.
Led by captain Amanda Farrugia, 22 players will make their debuts with 16 on the field and an extended interchange of 16 as per AFLW rules.
The team features West Australian marquee player Emma Swanson and four of the club’s five priority players - fellow West Australian Alex Williams, Victorians Jessica Dal Pos and Phoebe McWilliams as well as Maddy Collier who made history as the first NSW/ACT player to join the side.

One player who is making more than just her AFLW debut is former WNBA and WNBL basketballer Jess Bibby who has never played a proper game of football before.
Following 394 games for the Canberra Capitals, the 37-year-old trialled for the GIANTS at a talent combine and was selected as a rookie for the inaugural AFLW season.
Fellow code-crosser Ellie Brush was unable for selection for this week’s game with the Canberra United co-captain playing W-League finals this weekend.
The GIANTS will take on Adelaide in South Australia on Saturday afternoon with live coverage on Fox Footy.
