The GIANTS will head to the 2017 NAB AFL Draft in a strong position following a successful trade period.
At the conclusion of a busy final day, the GIANTS have improved their position to now hold three selections inside the top 30 including pick 11.
The first round selection (11) came to the GIANTS from Essendon in exchange for Devon Smith while pick 28 landed with the GIANTS late in the trade period from Carlton for midfielder Matthew Kennedy.
Nathan Wilson’s trade to Fremantle on the last day also saw the GIANTS move up the draft order in the fourth round (from pick 71 to pick 57) next month as well as securing a second round pick in 2018.

List manager Craig Cameron said the club was pleased with its movements in the last fortnight.
“This trade period has put us into a strong position heading into next month’s draft in Sydney,” he said.
“We were very keen to move into the first round to be able to secure some of the best young talent in the country and we’ve managed to do that.
“While we’ve seen three players move on to other clubs, we now go into the Draft with three picks inside the top 30 as well as a strong position for the 2018 Draft.
“Devon Smith, Nathan Wilson and Matthew Kennedy have all made valuable contributions and wish them well at their new clubs.”
The GIANTS hold picks 11, 27, 28, 57, 65, 89 and 107 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft as well as a 2018 round two draft selection from Fremantle and a 2018 round three draft selection from Essendon.
