GIANTS fans have again taken to social media, perplexed by the players wearing of ‘black bras’ as they returned to pre-season training.
Greg, a father of three from Baulkham Hills, couldn’t understand the fashion choice.
“What’s with the black bras?” he asked on Facebook under a photo of Tom Scully winning yet another 3k time trial.
“I see this every year but still I’ve had no reasonable explanation as to why they wear these things.
“They’re fit young men and, unlike me, they shouldn’t need that much support just yet.”
Sally, a 27-year-old foundation member from Auburn, comment on the same photo by tagging her friend Michelle and adding .
James, from Blacktown, along with five or six other fans made reference to hit 90’s TV show Seinfeld.
“What would Kramer call these black bras, ‘bros’ or ‘manziers’?” he said.
GIANTS GPS guru James McBrien decided to clarify things once and for all:
“In the hot conditions of summer in Western Sydney, the guys often like to complete some of their running without their shirts on to remain as cool as possible.
“The ‘black bras’ hold the GPS units that we use to monitor how far the players run during a training session.”
Despite McBrien’s simple explanation, the GIANTS’ Social Media team expects it will soon be forgotten.
With more than a month of pre-season still to go, they’re already bracing themselves for November when the 2019 pre-season starts and the question of “What’s with the black bras” flood the club’s social media accounts again.
“It never stops. They just keep on coming and coming and coming, it’s relentless. Every day it piles up more and more and more and more,” a GIANTS social media insider said.
“But you’ve got to keep on putting the photos up and the more you put up the more the questions keep coming!”
