Ruckman Rory Lobb will return to the GIANTS line-up to take on Hawthorn in a Saturday night blockbuster at Spotless Stadium.
Lobb is the only change for the GIANTS, replacing suspended forward Jeremy Cameron.
“Rory’s really surprised us with how quickly he’s improved over the past week or so,” said coach Leon Cameron.
“His training has built up day by day since that big hit in the Gold Coast game, he took part in main training yesterday and put his hand up for selection.
“We know Rory adds some great versatility to our side, so we look forward to welcoming him back this week.”
Lobb hasn’t played since round 12 when he was involved in a heavy collision against the Suns at Spotless Stadium.
Coach Cameron said his 10th-placed side is looking forward to the huge clash with the Hawks, who are currently in ninth spot on the ladder.
“We come up against a really good team in Hawthorn who are playing some really good footy,” he said.
“We know the equation - we’ve got to keep winning because we’re outside the eight and we’ve got to chase sides that are in the eight down to get a spot in there.
“We’ve won three in a row and found some form. We look forward to that challenge against Hawthorn because they’re always very, very hard to beat.”
The last time the two sides met they couldn’t be separated, playing out a draw in Launceston in round 16 last season.
“No doubt it’s going to be a really tight game. It’s a great spectacle to have them come to us on a Saturday night in Sydney and I look forward to our crowd coming out to support us.”
