While they’ve been GIANTS for over a week already, the club’s newest AFL Women’s players have had their places in history confirmed with their jumper numbers and lockers assigned for the 2019 NAB AFLW Season.

32 jumper numbers have been used by the 40 players to have represented the GIANTS since the inaugural season in 2017. Now eight new players have been assigned the number that will be part of their journey at the GIANTS.

The GIANTS’ first pick in the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft, Alyce Parker, has been given number three which was previously worn by the GIANTS’ leading goalkicker Pheobe McWilliams. 

Parker, who grew up a Richmond fan, has long had an interest in wearing the number three after her favourite player – Tiger turned GIANT – Brett Deledio formerly donned the number. 

All Australian recruit Christina Bernardi will wear number four which was formerly worn by Alex Saundry, while Lisa Whiteley will become the third GIANT to pull on the number 15 should she debut in 2019.

Rookie Taylah Davies will play in number 16, while former cricketer Britt Perry – like fellow South Australian Whiteley – could become the third player to wear 19 on their back for the GIANTS.

The number 20 could be seen on the back of a GIANTS player in a game for the first time since 2017 with Ebony O’Dea, who turned 20 on the first day of pre-season, taking the vacant number.

UNSW-ES Bulldog ruck Ingrid Nielsen has been handed the number 25 jumper while Torres Strait Islander Delma Gisu could make history in the number 30 guernsey which has never been worn by a GIANT in an AFLW game. 

Irish signing Yvonne Bonner will be assigned a number once the Gaelic Football star arrives at the club next week.
