Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe might have claimed his second Brownlow Medal on Monday night in Melbourne, but the GIANTS also enjoyed Brownlow Medal night at GIANTS Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.

The GIANTS stayed in Sydney rather than travelling to Melbourne as they continue to prepare for Saturday’s 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final against Richmond.

12 GIANTS polled votes in the 2019 Brownlow Medal with midfielder Stephen Coniglio leading the way on a night that also saw him claim the 2019 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

Coniglio polled an equal career-best 17 votes to finish equal 13th overall in the count, tied with Melbourne ruck Max Gawn and West Coast star Elliot Yeo.

The midfielder had an outstanding year despite injury limiting him to 15 games, receiving three best on ground nods in rounds one, 11 and 15.

Coleman Medallist Jeremy Cameron finished with 13 votes, with the forward receiving top votes from the umpires in four games.

Cameron’s haul of 13 votes is a new career best, surpassing the 12 votes he received in 2015.

Lachie Whitfield and Josh Kelly were the only other GIANTS to reach double figures, with Whitfield collecting 12 votes and Kelly 11.

Young midfielder Tim Taranto polled the first Brownlow Medal votes of his career to finish with nine votes on the night.

Defenders Zac Williams and Nick Haynes both polled five votes each as Phil Davis collected three votes, his first Brownlow Medal votes since 2016.

Harry Himmelberg and Jacob Hopper both polled a single vote – the first of their careers – while the highlight of the night was Dawson Simpson receiving the first vote of his career.

Simpson, who will retire after the Grand Final, collected one vote for his efforts in the GIANTS’ round one win over Essendon.
