Stephen Coniglio has made it three consecutive perfect games by a GIANTS player in the Shadforth AFL Coaches Association's AFL Champion Player Award following his exceptional performance against the Gold Coast.
Coniglio follows Josh Kelly and Lachie Whitfield in polling a perfect 10 votes in consecutive rounds after his 36 disposal, 13 mark, eight tackle and three goal effort on Saturday at GIANTS Stadium.
It’s also the second time that the 25-year-old has put in a perfect game with his round one performance against Essendon garnering the same honour.
Coniglio was also named in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week alongside teammate Jeremy Cameron, who received seven votes from Leon Cameron and Stuart Dew.
Cameron collected 20 disposals and kicked five goals as the GIANTS routed the Suns by 83 points.
Midfielder Josh Kelly also polled seven votes for his 36 disposal and one-goal game, while Jacob Hopper was awarded four votes after collecting 31 disposals and kicking a goal.
Sam Reid – who named one of the AFL Player’s Association’s ‘Unsung Heroes’ for his shut down role on the Suns’ Alex Sexton – earned his first vote of the season after collecting 17 touches and taking nine marks.
With the GIANTS sharing most of the votes evenly over the past month, Coniglio is the highest ranked GIANT in equal 11th position on 38 votes while Cameron and Lachie Whitfield sit tied for 14th on 36 votes and young midfielder Tim Taranto is just two votes behind in 16th place with 34 votes.
