GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward and vice-captain Heath Shaw will both undergo fitness tests this week ahead of Saturday’s match against the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium.

Ward was subbed out in the second quarter of the GIANTS match against Adelaide on Sunday with concussion, while Shaw missed the game with a minor hamstring injury.

Ruckman Shane Mumford (knee) and midfielders Rhys Palmer (hamstring) and Lachie Whitfield (foot) are expected to miss the match against the Suns but could be available as soon as Round 7 when the GIANTS play Port Adelaide at StarTrack Oval, Canberra.

Defender Tim Mohr (foot) and rookie-listed midfielder Sam Schulz (shoulder) are also nearing returns following long term injuries, while co-captain Phil Davis remains sidelined indefinitely following a kidney injury.
