INDIGENOUS ROUND

The contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls to Australian football and the broader community will be celebrated across round nine and 10 of the NAB 2024 AFLW Season.

The theme for Indigenous Round this season is Spirit Strong, Game On, which recognises the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's traditions, enduring spirit, and ongoing impact and legacy they have in Australian Rules Football and society.

In celebration of the round, the GIANTS’ AFLW side will wear their 2024 Indigenous jumper on Saturday against the Dockers. There will also be a live didgeridoo performance and a dance performance pre-game.

Simply download the GIANTS App, if you haven’t already, and select 'My Tickets' in the menu at the bottom of your screen! Then select the relevant match to view your ticket. You can then also save your ticket to your wallet.

There’s so much fun to be had in the GIANTS Fan Zone on Saturday, with prizes to be won, free face painting, GIANT Inflatables, and much more on offer as we take on Fremantle while celebrating Indigenous Round.

Located in the heart of Marrickville, Henson Park can be accessed by both train and bus. 

Train

The nearest train stations are Petersham, Marrickville and Sydenham, with each a 15-20 min walk to Henson Park. 

Bus

Several bus routes run through Marrickville with stops a few minutes’ walk from Henson Park.

  • M30 Sydenham-Taronga Zoo (prepay only): Victoria Rd near Chapel St
  • 423 Kingsgrove-City: Victoria Rd near Chapel St
  • 426 Dulwich Hill-City: Victoria Rd near Chapel St
  • 428 Canterbury-City: Addison Rd near Illawarra Rd
  • 412 Campsie-City: Livingstone Rd near Sydenham Rd

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

Henson Park in Sydney’s Inner West is the perfect spot to enjoy a game of AFLW as we celebrate Indigenous Round.

As well as the Harvey Norman Hill, patrons are permitted to bring a camping chair to games at Henson Park.

While food trucks are available, patrons are permitted to BYO food.

However, the following items are prohibited at Henson Park:

  • Dogs
  • Cans or glass
  • Alcohol
  • Bikes

Come and visit the GIANTS shop at Henson Park! If you think you have enough GIANTS gear, think again! We will have all your favourites available, including tees, flags and footballs- perfect for Kick 2 Kick after the game! Look for us under our GIANT marquee!

Members can get their member discounts and use their GIANTS shop vouchers at game day.

KICK A GOAL, PLANT A TREE

Capital Brewing Co has partnered with the GIANTS to launch the fourth year of their Trees for Tomorrow initiative in partnership with Jindabyne-based environmental charity Keep it Cool.

The 'Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree' program has Capital Brewing Co working hand in hand with the GIANTS, committing to plant a native Australian tree for every goal kicked by the GIANTS’ AFL and AFLW teams throughout both seasons in 2024.

TEAM SELECTION

The GIANTS will name their team to take on the Dockers on Thursday at 6:20pm at gwsgiants.com.au. 

BROADCAST 

The GIANTS’ round nine Indigenous Round clash with the Dockers will be shown live on Fox Footy and Kayo nationally, and on 7 Two in NSW and the ACT, from 2pm on Saturday.
