GIANTS forward Brodee Mowbray will make her long-awaited return from an ACL injury in Sunday’s Sydney Derby against the Swans.
Mowbray will return for her first AFLW game in 337 days after being sidelined with an ACL injury suffered in round eight last year.
After a diligent rehab program, Mowbray returned through an organised scrimmage last week and has now been cleared of an AFLW return against the crosstown rival on Sunday.
Selected with pick 55 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, the crafty medium forward will be looking to utilise her strong hands and her ferocious attack on the opposition in Sunday’s Sydney Derby.
Joining Mowbray in the side is GIANTS newcomer Aliesha Newman who will make her GIANTS debut against her former side, as well as defender Izzy Huntington.
Newman comes into the side for her first game since joining the club in the summer via a trade with the Swans, while Huntington returns after missing last week’s game as a late out with knee soreness.
Reliable defender Emily Pease has also kept her place in the side after successfully getting through training this week following a minor ankle injury sustained in last week’s draw with the Suns.
Injured duo Cambridge McCormick and Nicola Barr exit from last week’s side, as well as Caitlin Miller who has been omitted after being the late inclusion for Huntington last week.
The GIANTS will take on the Swans for bragging rights at Henson Park at 3:05pm on Sunday in the third AFLW Sydney Derby.
