GIANTS fans eager to get their first look at this year’s exciting and new-look AFLW line-up will get their wish on Saturday with the club unveiling all eight of its new faces for its match simulation clash with the Swans in Blacktown.

Led by Bec Beeson, who will take to the field for the first time as the club’s new skipper, the GIANTS will play 26 of their 30-strong squad against the Swans.

In what will be each club’s first pre-season hit-out against AFLW opposition, the Orange Army will get its first look at all eight of the club’s exciting newcomers for the upcoming AFLW season, with the likes of recent draftees Kaitlyn Srhoj and Indigo Linde both in action against the cross-town rivals.

Irish recruit Eilish O’Dowd and AFLW premiership-winner Mikayla Pauga are other newcomers who will feature in the exciting pre-season clash on Saturday.

Also playing her first game in GIANTS colours on Saturday will be newcomer Jemma Ramsdale, who only recently joined the club as a replacement player following the unfortunate season-ending ACLinjury to fellow newcomer Daisy Walker.

Meghan Gaffney will also line up against the Swans in what will be the Tassie speedster’s first official hit-out since recovering from an ACL injury sustained last year which forced her to miss the entire 2023 NAB AFLW season.

Fans will also get to see one of the competition’s young superstars in action on Saturday, with reigning Gabrielle Trainor Medalist and 2023 AFLW Rising Star winner Zarlie Goldsworthy set to take on the Swans.

Goldsworthy created history last year as the GIANTS’ youngest-ever club champion and the 19-year-old looks primed to continue her progression amongst the competition’s elite in season 2024.

New vice-captain Katherine Smith, former skipper Alicia Eva, rebounding defender Chloe Dalton and emerging forward Brodee Mowbray are the only four GIANTS unavailable for Saturday’s clash.

Saturday’s match simulation will consist of six 15-minute quarters plus time on.

The hit-out will be free entry for the general public.

Following Saturday’s clash and a practice match against the Kangaroos in Blacktown next week, the GIANTS will kick-start their 2024 AFLW campaign with an exciting opening round clash with the Western Bulldogs in Canberra on Saturday, August 31.
