The GIANTS will be bolstered by some key personnel for their VFL clash with Port Melbourne in Blacktown on Sunday, with Isaac Cumming headlining a host of inclusions.
Cumming returns after an injury-interrupted season to date, with the silky 25-year-old missing the opening rounds of the AFL season through a calf injury before returning for two VFL games until a hamstring injury forced him to miss the last six weeks.
Cumming is a welcome inclusion to Sunday’s team alongside AFL midfield duo James Peatling and Jacob Wehr who were the unlucky omissions for Josh Kelly and Jack Buckley in the senior line-up.
Meanwhile, Nathan Wardius, a former GIANTS Academy product picked up by the club as a Category B rookiein last year’s draft, will play his first game of the year after overcoming persistent shin splints which limited the crafty forward’s first AFL pre-season.
Birthday boy Will Shaw also comes into Sunday’s side, as well as GIANTS Academy young guns Josaia Delana and Logan Smith.
Both members of the Allies side featuring some of the best young talent in the country, Delana will play his third VFL game for the club on Sunday while Smith, a talented 204cm ruckman, will make his VFL debut.
Making way from last week’s team is Toby McMullin (AFL) and Josh Smith (injured) as well as Nathan Richards, Ethan Williams, Mackenzie Allen, Taine Moraschi and Lochlan Jenkins who have been omitted.
11 AFL-listed GIANTS will feature in Sunday’s VFL clash as the club looks to rebound from a tough loss to the Hawks in Box Hill last week.
The GIANTS and Port Melbourne will meet on Sunday in Blacktown at 11:05am.
