A GIANT start to 2024 just got bigger for the Orange Tsunami with star forward Jesse Hogan inking a new two-year deal to remain at the club.
In the midst of some of the best form of his 11-year career, Hogan will don the orange and charcoal until at least the end of the 2026 season.
The current Coleman Medal leader with 12 goals across the first three games, Hogan’s signature comes following the best 18 months of his career, with the hulking 196cm forward coming off a career-best 49 goals from 23 games last season.
Entering his fourth year at the club, the 29-year-old has continued his red-hot form into 2024 with bags of four and six goals in wins over the Magpies and the Kangaroos followed by two more majors in the big victory over the Eagles to see him sit atop the AFL’s goalkicking leaderboard entering the GIANTS’ clash with the Suns on Sunday.
Originally drafted by Melbourne in 2012, Hogan played six seasons for the Demons and then two for the Dockers in his home state of WA before a move to the GIANTS ahead of the 2021 season saw him reinvigorate himself into one of the competition’s most damaging key forwards.
A two-time leading goalkicker at the Demons, Hogan has taken his game to another level in his time as a GIANT, kicking 116 goals in 53 games to become a key pillar in attack for the Orange Tsunami.
The crafty full forward also had his best individual performance of his career in 2023, registering a new personal-best nine goals and 17 marks to go along with 24 touches in a starring display against Essendon in round 23.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, is thrilled to lock away Hogan for another two seasons.
“Jesse has been tremendous for the footy club since arriving in 2021 and we are delighted he’ll remain a GIANT for at least two more years,” McCartney said.
“Jesse’s settled in very well at the GIANTS and that’s showing in his performances over the past few seasons, which is really exciting.
“Leading the way up forward alongside Toby Greene and the rest of the forward line, Jesse is a huge piece of our puzzle, and we can’t wait to see what he can continue to produce for the club across this season and the next two years as we strive for the ultimate success.”
Hogan’s signature comes following a record-breaking start to the season for the GIANTS, with the club opening the 2024 season with three straight wins for the first time in history to sit atop the AFL ladder ahead of a huge showdown with the Suns in Gather Round this weekend.
