Three GIANTS are set to take the next steps in their returns to the field, with Braydon Preuss, Phoenix Gothard, and Joe Fonti expected to return through the club’s VFL practice match this weekend.
The trio’s minutes will vary for each individual but mark a good progression for the likes of Preuss (back) and Gothard (glandular fever) who are yet to feature in any games this season.
Preuss has returned to full training following ongoing disc issues in his back and will be re-introduced through the VFL friendly this Saturday as he eyes off a return to the AFL, having not pulled the jumper on since round 21, 2022.
Top draft pick Gothard is nearing the end of his return to play procedures after contracting glandular fever earlier this year. The exciting small forward is set to return to full training this week as well get some game time in Saturday’s practice match.
Fellow draftee Fonti (adductor) will also return to the field on Saturday after missing the round one VFL clash.
In other updates, Callan Ward is recovering well from his Opening Round shoulder injury and will progress to modified training this week with an expected return one-to-two weeks away.
The GIANTS will take on the Suns on Sunday, April 7 in Adelaide while the VFL side have the bye so will play a practice match against the Swans on Saturday morning.
