Midfield star Alyce Parker will remain in orange and charcoal after signing a new two-year deal with the GIANTS.
A club-record four-time GIANTS club champion winner, Parker will remain in the orange and charcoal until at least the end of the 2025 season after warding off interest from rival clubs to remain a GIANT.
One of the stars of the game and a member of the GIANTS’ leadership group, the 23-year-old has been a record-breaking force for the GIANTS since arriving at the club ahead of the 2019 season.
Parker said she was thrilled to extend with the GIANTS.
“I’m super excited to re-sign with the club,” she said.
“The GIANTS has been my home for a long time now and having come through the Academy, I’m proud to continue to be a role model for young girls from the Riverina who can come all the way through the pathway and play for their home club.
“Although this season we didn’t achieve what we wanted to, I feel confident the club is on the right track to turn things around and I want to be part of helping us return to finals as quickly as possible. I believe I can contribute to this environment and consequently, work together towards achieving team success.
“Personally, I feel like I have so much more growth to come and I’m excited to do that in the orange and charcoal.”
A country girl from Holbrook in southern NSW, Parker wasted no time in asserting herself as a star of the future, claiming the GIANTS’ Rising Star Award following a standout debut season in 2019.
The tough inside midfielder took her game to another level in 2020, named in the All-Australian team while also claiming her first Gabrielle Trainor Medal as club champion in just her second season. At just 21 years of age, Parker became the club’s first dual All-Australian and dual winner of the Gabrielle Trainor Medal when she claimed both honours again the following year.
Continuing her dominance, Parker re-wrote the record books in 2022 after winning two more Gabrielle Trainor Medals - making it four in a row - and in doing so became the club’s first ever four-time best and fairest winner in either the men’s or women’s competitions.
Parker was on track to add to her trophy cabinet in 2023, leading the GIANTS in disposals and clearances until round seven before an ankle injury ruled her out for the remainder of the season.
Showing her worth, Parker finished runner-up in this year’s Gabrielle Trainor Medal despite missing the last three games of the season.
GIANTS Head of Women’s Football, Briana Harvey, said securing Parker’s signature is significant for the club.
“There was understandably a lot of interest in Alyce, and we are thrilled to have her remain a GIANT for at least two more years,” Harvey said.
“It’s remarkable that Alyce has already won four club champion awards and at just 23, her best football is still well and truly ahead of her which is incredibly exciting.
“Securing Alyce’s signature was clearly a huge objective for us, not just for what she brings on the field, but off it as well with her character and her professionalism and her leadership.
“She’s clearly one of the stars of the competition and a real leader within our club and we’re so excited about having her continue to help lead our young promising group.
“Alyce’s commitment to the club is another endorsement for our program under coach Cam Bernasconi and we are excited for what we can achieve in the future.”
