The GIANTS have included seven players in their 25-man squad to play Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Sunday.
Defenders Matt Buntine and Lachie Plowman and midfielder Jacob Townsend have been named in the starting 18.
Key forwards Tom Boyd and Cam McCarthy, midfielder Jono O’Rourke and ruckman Rory Lobb are named on an extended interchange bench.
Midfielders Adam Treloar (groin) and Stephen Coniglio (thumb) will miss the match through injury with Sam Frost and Kristian Jaksch omitted.
Head Coach Leon Cameron said the GIANTS are looking forward to the challenge of playing one of the competition’s best teams at home.
“The enthusiasm from the group this week at training has been great,” said Cameron.
“It’s a huge task against Fremantle. We understand they’re a top four side, they’ve won seven in a row, but we’re really looking forward to testing ourselves for 120 minutes of footy against them.
“They’re a really professional outfit, very well coached by Ross Lyon and our players look forward to taking it up to them.”
Cameron says the inclusions to the GIANTS squad deserve their opportunity after impressing for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL.
“It’s great these players are knocking the door down.
“These guys have been playing consistent footy for seven or eight weeks and just waiting for their opportunity,” he said.
The GIANTS will name their final team at 5pm EST on Friday.
The GIANTS play Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Sunday at 4.40pm AEST with the match shown live on Fox Footy and 7mate.
