Australian fast bowler Patrick Cummins swapped the green and gold for orange and charcoal this morning when he donned the GIANTS Guernsey while meeting players at Breakfast Point.
Promising junior cricketer and Greater Western Sydney GIANTS midfielder, Stephen Coniglio, presented Penrith born Cummins with a GIANTS Guernsey.
Coniglio had a joint press conference on Tuesday with the Australian fast bowler, who is on the comeback trail after missing the domestic season through injury.
Coniglio was a promising junior cricketer in Western Australia and played against Cummins in an under-17 match against NSW in Adelaide.
"Steve and I played against each other in an under-17 tournament in Adelaide and they absolutely smashed us. I think they won outright."
Coniglio still follows cricket, but the number two draft pick in last year’s NAB AFL Draft is happy with his decision to stick with football.
"I always have one eye on the cricket, just checking what's happening with the scores," he said.
"I'm more than happy to be playing AFL, but especially in the summer months you do miss it a little bit.
"But it's a nice shirt."
Coniglio, who missed last week’s clash against the Adelaide Crows through illness, said that the young side would fare well against the Western Bulldogs in Canberra this Saturday,
“I think we’ve got a good chance.
“If we can play early on like we have in the last half of the last couple of games and get a jump on them, there’s every chance we can win.”
