Small forward Brent Daniels will miss two matches with a minor hamstring strain suffered against Richmond on Sunday.

It’s welcome news for the in-form goal kicker who has scored 17 goals this season.

GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:

“While disappointed Brent will miss a couple of matches, it’s good news for him that’s it’s just a minor setback and he’ll be back after the bye.”

While Daniels will miss this week’s clash with North Melbourne, defender Nick Haynes is expected to be available for selection after being able to progress through the concussion protocols.

An infection caused the veteran to miss a crucial training session last week which stalled his progress from a concussion suffered in round 10. After missing the past two matches, Haynes is in line to return in Hobart this weekend.

Fellow defender Leek Aleer (ankle) and talented young midfielder Conor Stone (back) are expected to return via the VFL this week following time off with their respective injuries, with the GIANTS set to take on the Kangaroos in Melbourne.

Draftee Jason Gillbee will miss this week’s VFL game after suffering a concussion in the final seconds of Sunday’s after-the-siren loss to the Tigers.

Meanwhile, star trio Josh Kelly (hamstring), Sam Taylor (hamstring) and Isaac Cumming (calf), as well as important wingman Jacob Wehr, are all closing in on returns – all four listed as one-to-two weeks away.
