The GIANTS have secured exciting defender Connor Idun with pick 61 of the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.
The 18-year-old arrived at the GIANTS after the GIANTS traded two future fourth round picks to St Kilda in exchange for pick 61.
Born in England, Idun is a developing key defender who thrives in one-on-one contests. While he stands at 190cm, Idun is a versatile player and thanks to his speed is able to play tall or small.
Clean and quick with disposal by hand, Idun played forward at times during 2018 kicking 10 goals in 14 games for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup.
Later in the 2018 season, Idun showed he is also capable of playing in the ruck.
GIANTS National Recruiting Manager Adrian Caruso said the club is thrilled to welcome Idun.
“Connor is a versatile tall who is a real competitor,” he said.
“He has athleticism and is a point of difference on our list.
“We traded up for him as it balanced our draft out with a key position player to mix in with the other types of players we brought in.”
