GREATER Western Sydney co-captain Phil Davis can't hide his excitement at the prospect of the club's maiden finals appearance, although he insists there's still much work to do.

The GIANTS currently sit 10th on the ladder, two points shy of Adelaide and Geelong; they can push into the top eight if both sides lose this weekend and they beat Port Adelaide on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of a final training run on Adelaide Oval on Friday, Davis said victory against the Power would prove telling for the young club's finals ambition.

"Every week you get to play AFL footy is an exciting time but [it's more so] when you get to be in a position we haven't been in before; we've won more games this year than we have in the entirety of our history," Davis said.

"We're in uncharted territory as a footy club and we like trying to take big steps and a big step would be to win here tomorrow night.

"We've still got three games after this that are all equally important so to first of all take care of this week and win would be a big moment for the club."

The GIANTS will line up on Saturday without three of their most important midfielders with Tom Scully (shoulder), Stephen Coniglio (concussion) and Adam Treloar (groin) all sidelined through injury.

Although the trio's quality is irreplaceable, Davis said replacements Tomas Bugg, Jack Steele and the newly re-signed Zac Williams were all capable of slotting in and delivering.

"They're very good players, the three midfielders we've lost, but we've been able to bring some real quality players back in," he said.

"Tom Bugg was in exceptional form at the start of the year and then Zac Williams was in great form before he hurt himself and also Jack Steele.

"Obviously you can't replace people of that calibre but we think we've got three blokes who can come in and do a good job."
