The GIANTS have completed a trade with the Adelaide Crows for ruck Jess Allan.
Allan has been on the GIANTS’ list since 2019 but has been an inactive player the past two seasons given her commitments with the Australian Defence Force.
The trade marks the GIANTS’ first involvement in the 2023 AFLW Trade and Sign Period, which closes at 5pm today.
The GIANTS will receive pick 52 in the upcoming AFLW Draft in return for Allan.
Allan originally joined the GIANTS after playing four games with the Crows before playing 14 games for the GIANTS across 2020 and 2021.
The 23-year-old moved to the GIANTS’ inactive list ahead of 2022.
Jess is the sister of current Crows player Sarah Allan, with the pair set to play together for the first time in season eight of AFLW.
GIANTS Head of Women’s Football Briana Harvey thanked Allan for her contribution to the club.
“Jess really relished in the environment at the GIANTS in her early days but has been absent from our program over the past couple of seasons due to her work commitments,” Harvey said.
“She has since been posted back to Adelaide and we are happy to facilitate a trade so she can return home and play with her sister.
“We wish Jess all the best.”
