Sydney Swans great Tadhg Kennelly was appointed the new head coach of the GIANTS Academy following the 2022 season.

The dashing Irish defender played 197 games for the Swans over 10 seasons in red and white, including the 2005 premiership.

After retiring at the conclusion of the 2011 AFL season, Kennelly worked with the AFL to identify international talent and served as an Assistant Coach in the AFL Academy before joining AFL NSW/ACT as the State head coach.

Kennelly returned to the Swans as a development coach for season 2018, before stepping into the role of defence coach until 2020.
