Matt Buntine – 7
Gave away plenty of size to Swans youngster Tom McCartin, but the defender easily won the match-up. Buntine had 14 disposals while keeping McCartin to just three and without a goal. Performed his role as part of an outstanding GIANTS' defensive unit.
Jeremy Cameron – 6
Got better as the match went on after getting outpointed by Dane Rampe early. Finished with two goals and 14 disposals, 10 of those contested.
Stephen Coniglio – 8
How Congilio was left out of the All Australian team beggars belief. Was brilliant in the contest and ran hard all afternoon. Finished with 27 disposals, 13 contested.
Phil Davis – 9
An outstanding performance from the key defender in his critical one-on-one match-up with Swans superstar Lance Franklin. Davis had 18 disposals and 10 marks while Franklin had just eight touches and didn't kick a goal. Davis allowed Franklin to roam up the ground, but stuck to him like a glove when he got within 70m of goal.
Matt de Boer – 6
The veteran played his role across half-forward, justifying his inclusion after injuring his hamstring in round 20. Had 17 disposals and kicked a goal.
Brett Deledio – 7
Like de Boer, Deledio made an impact in his return from a calf injury sustained in round 20. Provided plenty of outside
Toby Greene – 9
Superb game from the dangerous forward in his first appearance since injuring his hamstring in round 20. Kicked three goals to go with 27 disposals, eight Inside 50s
Nick Haynes – 8
Marked everything in sight as part of a brilliant GIANTS back six. Haynes floated across half-back as the loose man in
Harry Himmelberg – 8
An outstanding game for the 22-year-old key forward, finishing with 23 disposals, nine marks
Jacob Hopper – 7
Found plenty of the ball on the outside and provided valuable run through the middle, collecting 26 disposals.
Josh Kelly – 2
The prolific ball winner injured his right knee near the end of the first quarter and didn't play any further part in the game. Finished with seven disposals.
Adam Kennedy – 6
Performed his role in
Zac Langdon – 5
The small forward had a quiet game, having just the eight disposals without kicking a goal, but did apply pressure in the forward half, laying four tackles.
Rory Lobb – 6
Shared the spoils with Swans big man Callum Sinclair in an enthralling ruck battle. Both players had their moments. Lobb gave his star-studded midfield plenty of quality service across the ground. Lobb finished with 37 hit-outs and eight disposals.
Harry Perryman – 6
Had a pretty quiet game in
Sam Reid – 6
In a similar vein to Perryman, Reid didn't light up the
Dylan Shiel – 7
Relatively well held by Swans tagger George Hewett, but still had eight Inside 50s and six clearances to go with his 23 disposals. An important part of a quality GIANTS midfield that had to step up when Josh Kelly went down injured late in the first quarter.
Used the ball extremely well across half-forward, having an 83
Adam Tomlinson – 7
A strong game from the powerful defender, finishing with 21 disposals (10 contested), seven marks and five inside
Callan Ward – 8
The GIANTS co-captain was massive in the second half, finishing with an equal game-high 29 disposals after just eight touches in the first two quarters. His attack on the ball was superb, applying a huge bump on Dan Hannebury. Also inspired his side with a tremendous spoil late in the second term.
Zac Williams – 8
In his first game since rupturing his Achilles in January, the half-back flanker didn't miss a step, racking up 23 disposals to go with nine marks. A strong tackle on Dan Hannebery set the benchmark for what was to come. The X-Factor for the GIANTS in this finals series.
