Former Port Adelaide Premiership winner and Club Champion Brett Montgomery has joined the GIANTS’ coaching staff.

The appointment adds to new Head Coach Adam Kinglsey’s coaching team with Kinglsey to be joined by his 2004 premiership teammate in the orange and charcoal.

Montgomery brings a wealth of coaching experience to the club, having worked at Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and most recently Port Adelaide over 13 years as an assistant coach.

Montgomery also briefly worked with the GIANTS in 2018 as an opposition analyst.

He played 204 AFL games for the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide from 1997-2007, won the John Cahill Medal as the Power’s club champion in 2000 and was named in the All Australian team in 2002.

GIANTS General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, welcomed Montgomery to the GIANTS family.

“We’re thrilled to add Brett to our coaching staff under new coach Adam Kinglsey.

“Brett brings a wealth of experience, both from his decorated playing career and then with over a decade’s experience as an assistant coach at three different clubs.

“It’s exciting for us to be able to appoint Brett, alongside Ben Hart, to a new-look coaching staff for the 2023 season as beyond.

Kinglsey will be joined in the coaches' box in 2023 by Montgomery, Adelaide great Ben Hart – who joined the club last week – and current assistant Craig Jennings.

Ruck coach Shame Mumford will continue his part-time role with the club while newly appointed Head of Development Robbie Chancellor will head up a development team with VFL coach Damian Truslove and Alicia Eva.

Senior Assistant Coach Mark McVeigh has chosen to step away from the club after nine years at the GIANTS.
