Where and When: Saturday, September 17 at 11:10am at GIANTS Stadium
Tickets: Entry to Saturday’s match is FREE for all patrons! No need to register, just simply turn up, enter and enjoy the footy.
Last Time They Met: The two sides last met in round four, of season five in 2021 with the GIANTS taking a 20-point victory at Blacktown International SportsPark. Cora Staunton was prolific in her sides mid-season win, kicking four goals. The GIANTS' strength around the contest was on show throughout the game. The Eagles were able to edge the home side at centre bounces, winning clearances 7-6, but they couldn't match the GIANTS' depth at stoppages around the ground.
Broadcast: The match will be broadcast live from 11:00am on 7Mate in NSW and ACT, as well as Foxtel, Kayo and the Official AFLW App.
What it Means for the GIANTS: Getting their first win of the season last weekend against the Swans, the GIANTS will be looking to build momentum and make it back-to-back wins this weekend, in their one and only game at GIANTS Stadium for the season. The GIANTS’ new game plan, which involves kicking more goals and by more players, has started to come to life with multiple contributors over the opening three rounds. Averaging five goals a game this season, the GIANTS will be looking to maintain and if not, improve this stat.
Where’s the Opposition At: After opening their season with a 12-point win over expansion side Port Adelaide, the Eagles have been dealt two heavy losses in the past two rounds against the Suns and Bombers respectively. Noting slow starts and improved second-half performances, the Eagles will no doubt be searching for a more consistent performance.
Player Watch: Zarlie Goldsworthy – the club’s number one pick for 2022 showed what she was capable of when she made her debut last weekend in round three. The 17-year-old was the leading goal-scorer for the GIANTS against the Swans, kicking 2.3 from her 9 disposals and claiming the GIANTS MVG award.
In the Mix: After securing their first win of the season last weekend, it would be unexpected that the GIANTS make too many changes to their match-winning formula. No new injuries have hampered the GIANTS’ list and three available players remain to be selected and play for the first time this season.
