The GIANTS have successfully launched their ‘A Day in The Life of a GIANT’ leadership workshop, in conjunction with GIANTS Netball and supported by Macquarie Group.
The workshop is the first of its kind for the club, and saw female participants invited out to the club for a full day of classroom and practical activities with AFLW and netball players and coaches.
The attendees gained valuable insights into high performance sports; leadership and resilience; living a healthy and active lifestyle; and ultimately what it takes to become a professional female athlete.
Almost 70 female students were nominated by their teachers and coaches to participate. These schools around Western Sydney have been identified as having a wealth of aspiring athletes from diverse backgrounds.
GIANTS Head of Community Ali Faraj was pleased with the success of the first workshop.
“We were really happy to have so many young girls join us for a full day of learning with our GIANTS netball and AFLW programs,” Faraj said.
“The program focuses on giving girls an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be part of a professional sporting organisation, while addressing leadership and resilience.
“We are fortunate at the GIANTS to have some wonderful role models in our female athletes and coaches, so it was great to have them spend some time with these girls.
“I’d also like to thank Macquarie Group for their support of this program. We would not be able to run these types of workshops in the community without the support of our partners,” he added.
The GIANTS AFLW side continue their season with a round four clash against the Eagles this Saturday at 11.10am at GIANTS Stadium.
