Tough midfielder Harry Perryman has been released from hospital on Monday morning following a brutal collision in Sunday’s win over North Melbourne.
The 23-year-old came from the field in the second quarter and was taken to hospital at half-time.
Scans on Sunday night revealed four broken ribs, which will sideline Perryman indefinitely.
He has been cleared of any internal injuries at this stage but will continue to be monitored over the coming weeks.
GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said:
“It’s disappointing for Harry who is always one of our most consistent players but had been excelling in a new midfield role over recent weeks.
“He was typically tough and courageous when he approached the contest where he got injured and unfortunately it will sideline him for a while.
“He’s had great care over the last 24 hours, and we’re pleased he’ll be able to return home later this week. He’ll take it easy for now and we’re looking forward to him returning to the field later in the year.”
The GIANTS will provide a full injury update on Tuesday.
The GIANTS take on the Western Bulldogs at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday at 7:25pm.
