Former Western Bulldogs Star, Isabel Huntington, will call GIANTS home for season seven and eight of the NAB AFLW.
After expressing her interest in becoming a GIANT for the upcoming season, the GIANTS and Bulldogs came to an agreement that will see the former number one draft pick (2017) join the club.
In return for the star utility, the Bulldogs will receive picks 29 and 37 from the GIANTS.
Huntington, who is currently recovering from an ACL injury, has played 20 games for the Bulldogs since joining them as the number one draft pick in their inaugural season.
The 23-year-old had a career-best season in 2020 winning the Bulldogs Best and Fairest, the AFLW Rising Star Award and achieving All-Australian selection.
Playing every game in 2021, Huntington contributed up forward, kicking 12-goals and leading the competition for contested marks.
GIANTS Head of Women’s Football Briana Harvey welcomed Izzy to the club.
“We’re really excited to welcome Izzy to the GIANTS for the next two seasons,” said Harvey.
“Izzy is a versatile player and brings not only great talent, but great leadership through her experience in the game.
“She’s coming off an ACL injury but her rehabilitation is going really well and she’ll be in good hands with our medical staff here to ensure she returns to the track as soon as possible.
“She’s excited to continue her career with us and her commitment is a great endorsement for our club and for our people.”
The AFLW sign and trade period commenced for the GIANTS on Tuesday, May 31 with the GIANTS so far completing trades for Ally Morphett, Libby Graham and Erin McKinnon.
The GIANTS now have picks 20, 68, 70 and 88 in the upcoming 2022 NAB AFLW Draft, which will be held on Wednesday, June 29.
Season seven of the NAB AFLW will commence in August 2022.
