Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has been presented with a special cake as he prepares for his 1000th game  this Saturday.

Sheedy, who will become the first person in VFL/AFL history to reach the 1000 game milestone, was presented with the cake by the GIANTS players before training at SKODA Stadium.

The veteran coach said that he was thrilled to reach the milestone and hoped that his AFL career would continue in years to come.

“It’s terrific from a point of view of the people who developed me over the years.

“It was a pretty good era when I was in the mighty Tiger land.

“And then going to Essendon where I had some really wonderful times over a quarter of a century.

“Developing this young playing group in Sydney is completely different to anything I’ve done before.

“Coming up here to the GIANTS has been a really pleasing opportunity to have in this stage of my life and I’m involved in the most exciting period of AFL,” Sheedy said.
