The GIANTS are set to take on St Kilda on Friday night in Canberra with new co-captain and superstar forward Toby Greene to lead the side out.

The blockbuster clash at Manuka Oval will also see the return of ruckman Braydon Preuss and defender Isaac Cumming.

Greene has missed the first five weeks of the season through suspension while Preuss missed the round five clash against the Demons also through suspension.

Cumming missed last week under the health and safety protocols as a close contact.

“We’re really excited for Friday night, it’s going to be a wonderful opportunity to test ourselves against a top side at our home ground,” coach Leon Cameron said.

“We obviously welcome Toby back and he’ll captain the side officially for the first time since being elevated to co-captain. He’s taken responsibility for his actions and worked really hard over the past six weeks to get back and wants to make an impact.

“Isaac comes back out of the health and safety protocols, he was a close contact so was able to train through and we’re pleased to have him come straight back into the side.

“Braydon also comes back in and we’ll go with the two rucks after Matt Flynn performed well last week in Preussy’s absence.”

Jesse Hogan has been managed off the back of a six-day break and playing the last four games in a row at AFL level. Matt de Boer and Xavier O’Halloran have been omitted.

Coach Cameron said he was looking forward to the test against the Saints as well as the opportunity to open the competition-wide ANZAC Round.

“Friday is a massive game for us,” he said.

“We’re excited to be back in Canberra after a disrupted few years and this is a huge match-up so we encourage all our members and fans to come down to Manuka Oval.

“It’s also a special chance to kick off ANZAC Round and recognise the service and sacrifice of the men and women in the armed forces. We’re really looking forward to it.”

The GIANTS take on St Kilda at Manuka Oval on Friday at 7:50pm.

There will be a curtain-raiser match between the ADF Women’s Team, the ‘All Stars’ and the NSW Police Women’s Team, the ‘Blue Heelers’ from 4pm along with a pre-match commemoration service.
