The GIANTS have named a squad of 36 - plus three VFL listed players - to take on the Swans in a practice match in Albury on Friday night as preparations for the AFL season heat up.
GIANTS fans will get their first opportunity to see the 2021 draft class in action with first-round draftees Finn Callaghan and Leek Aleer to play, along with Academy product Josh Fahey and rookie Cooper Hamilton.
New recruit Jarrod Brander will play in GIANTS colours for the first time, along with ruck Braydon Preuss who is yet to debut for the club.
Key defender Lachlan Keeffe will also return to the field, nine months after tearing his ACL in May last year.
It’s a strong squad for the first hit-out of the pre-season with three Academy products and VFL listed players in Josh Green (brother of Tom), Harry Grintell and Sam Frost to also feature.
New co-captain Toby Greene is eligible to play in the game however the club has opted to continue with his preparations on the training track as he looks to return from suspension in round six of the AFL season.
Jacob Hopper will miss the match as he manages some knee pain following post-season surgery while Sam Taylor has a facial injury from match simulation last week. Tanner Bruhn copped a corked hip in the same training session and Adam Kennedy is returning from a minor hamstring strain.
All four are expected to be available for the GIANTS’ next pre-season hit-out - the AAMI Community Series match against Collingwood at GIANTS Stadium on March 6.
Brent Daniels (foot), Jack Buckley (knee) and Albury local Zach Sproule (shoulder) are all on the long-term injury list.
The GIANTS take on the Swans at Lavington Sports Ground in Albury on Friday night at 6pm with tickets available HERE.
For those who can’t attend the match, all the action will be streamed live on Kayo.
